The Reverend LaCynda Gibson was born in Lubbock, Texas. She attended private parochial schools for most of her childhood, but graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1976. From 1976 to 1978, she attended Missouri Western State College as a student of Photo Journalism, Oral Communications and Public Speaking. From 1978 to 1979, she studied Art, Electrical Engineering and English at Texas Technical University. Rev. Gibson is a professional floral designer, having received certification in 1981 from the Frankie Shelton School of Floral Design in Houston, Texas. Since then, she has continued to work in creative floral design.
        In 1982, she began seminary studies with the Jamilian University of the Ordained, and in 1984 moved to Reno, Nevada, to become an active participant in the Church of the Second Advent. Rev. Gibson was ordained into the ministry in 1985 and became a member of the staff of the Apostolic Chancellery in 1986.
        Her many duties include Executive Assistant to Bishop Gene Savoy, Director of Admissions for the Jamilian University of the Ordained, and media and public relations officer for the Andean Explorers Foundation & Ocean Sailing Club, and Executive Secretary of Young Explorers International. She is also a Sacristan attached to the Cathedral Church of the Americas and University Chapel and was recently appointed as Program Coordinator for the Advocates for Religious Rights and Freedoms.
        Rev. Gibson has enjoyed competitive figure skating and dance. She has received awards in many public speaking competitions, was a member of Toastmasters, and was selected as regional representative for Young Business Women of America for the state of Missouri. She has also traveled to South America with the Andean Explorers Foundation, as a seminar and expedition coordinator.
